What does the EGR valve do on a Honda Odyssey?

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve helps lower the car's exhaust emissions (gases from the tailpipe). It recirculates the portion of the gasses coming out of the engine by putting in back into the intake manifold, where the engine can burn it again, thereby reducing the emissions. via

Where is the EGR valve located on a Honda Odyssey? (video)

How do you check if EGR valve is stuck open?

Open Position: Rough idling and problems with acceleration are the two most common indicators that the EGR valve is stuck open. The truck might also stall excessively. When the EGR valve is stuck open, all of the exhaust gas cycle back into the chamber, meaning there's not enough oxygen for a combustion to take place. via

How do you clean the EGR valve on a 2003 Honda Odyssey?

If this is a 2003, you have a removable top plate on the intake manifold. Unbolt that (engine OFF!) and clean out all the individual EGR passages (scrape with screwdriver!) and ream out the passage to the EGR valve itself with a heavy duty pipe cleaner. Mine needs this about every 50k miles to prevent EGR clogging. via

What does EGR valve do?

It connects the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold and is controlled by either a vacuum or a built-in electric step motor. The function of the EGR valve is to control the flow of exhaust gas being recirculated depending on the engine load. via

Can EGR valve make noise?

Another symptom of a bad or failing EGR tube is rattling noises from the engine bay. If the EGR tube breaks or comes loose, it can cause rattling noises as a result of the metal tube vibrating. The noise may be quiet at idle, and become more noticeable when accelerating. via

When should I replace my EGR valve?

Some will recommend getting it replaced every 40,000–50,000 miles. However, like with most other things in your vehicle, there is no mile number set in stone for when a piece of equipment will wear down and break. via

Where is the EGR valve located on a 2002 Honda Odyssey?

The EGR valve is located on the left side on the rear of the engine. Since the engine sits sideways in the vehicle it will be right about in the middle of the engine compartment towards the front of the engine. It unbolts with two bolts. via

Does the Honda Element have an EGR valve?

The EGR valve is located in the engine compartment (underneath the hood). via

Can you block off an EGR valve? (video)

Can you bypass EGR cooler?

Registered. You can sandwich a plate at the intake and exit of the EGR Cooler. No need to block of the EGR Tube as you will have a tune that effectively shuts off that path to the intake. This way no exhaust gases and no coolant will pass through the EGR Cooler. via
